„No New Followers“ naziv je nove izložbe u Laubi koju potpisuje interdisciplinarni umjetnički kolektiv TARWUK. Izložba realizirana u formi site-specific instalacije koju ćete imati prilike vidjeti od subote 13. lipnja 2015. bit će njihovo prvo predstavljenje hrvatskoj publici.

TARWUK (Bruno Pogačnik Wukodrakula & Ivana Vukšić) interdisciplinaran je umjetnički kolektiv osnovan 2014. baziran u New Yorku. Koristeći tradicionalne kiparske tehnike i suvremene računalne programe stvaraju multimedijalne instalacije kojima istražuju granice osobne privatnosti, komunikacije i intimnog, visoko individualiziranog iskustva gledanja umjetničkog djela. Njihovi su interesi presjeci između digitalne i fizičke realnosti, odnosno preklapanje slojeva virtualnih stvarnosti s fizičkima, sugerirajući kompleksne mreže izmjene podatka gdje se ujedinjuju artificijelno i realno.

Did you know that we celebrate our 4th birthday? It’s true!

Four years have quickly passed by so next Saturday, the 13th of June 2015, we will celebrate our birthday with the opening of the new exhibition “No New Followers” signed by the interdisciplinary art collective from New York – TARWUK (Bruno Pogačnik Wukodrakula & Ivana Vukšić), but also with a big birthday party powered by YAMMAT FM!

“No New Followers” is the name of the exhibition in Lauba signed by the interdisciplinary art collective TARWUK. The exhibition is realized in the form of a site-specific installation that you will be able to see next Saturday, June 13th 2015 which will also be collective’s first introduction to the Croatian audience.

Designed specifically for Lauba’s space, the installation focuses on the “body” seeing it simultaneously as an object and space. This presumably static body found lying on the exhibition floor is at the same time a container of content, but also a subtle aggravation to the viewer. It is branched to segments of small formats (some new “bodies”), it floats discretely, its “head” hanging above it, and image and video are given to it as integral elements, even the text is added as an active part of the installation with which formal elements of sculpture are at stake.
Talking about the existence of a system we mean functioning by default standards, but what happens when to this system a new element or elements are added? We are given some new logic of connecting so we change its meaning. This moment of glitch, a “beautiful mistake” in the system, is taken as a starting point of making, but is not its aesthetic. Inside this produced system of artwork, mistakes are highlighted as their integral elements. The whole history of art is one big cyclical repetition, so as leaps happen in civilization, they do in mediums, too. We are returning from one to another. Exactly this illogical logic of leaps is a part of the work process since an idea has given birth by a text which is then transformed into an object, and an object becomes a video which is at last at the begging – a text. Exactly this transition from medium to medium depicts a continuous building and destroying of logic – the same as it is manipulated by material, it is manipulated by a viewer who is as an active member of society an important part of the mechanism. In the viewer happen simultaneously processes of perception and reaction without a possibility of postponing neither one of them.
A starting point of their research is one of the oldest problems in art – an object is dead until a viewer activates it in his or her eye. As well as artists through connecting fragments and materials, classical sculptor’s language and digital representation of it build an installation; with the same logic viewers construct their own image about the installation.

TARWUK (Bruno Pogačnik Wukodrakula & Ivana Vukšić) is an interdisciplinary art collective established in 2014 and based in New York. In their work, they combine a wide variety of media and formats in an effort to erase the boundaries between art and life in which they include various types of presentations. Using traditional sculptural techniques and modern computer programs they create multimedia installations which explore the boundaries of personal privacy, communication and intimate, highly individualized experience of viewing art. Their interests are intersections between digital and physical reality, and overlapping layers of virtual reality with physical, suggesting complex networks of information exchange where artificial and real meet.
