The third edition of the International Student Biennial organized by the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek opens in Lauba on Saturday, December 28, 2019 starting at 8 pm. The exhibition remains open until January 7, 2020. The exhibition will feature works by 20 students of art academies from many countries: the Royal College of Art in London, the National Academy of Arts in Oslo, the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn, the National Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, etc. Students of the Academy of Arts in Split, the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek and the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb also participate in the International Student Biennial.

The third edition of the International Student Biennial seeks to question how art today and the next generation of artists view the notion of beauty; to what extent is beauty still possible or needed in art; how to evaluate it and how to look for it. We are interested in student solutions that broadly problematize the problem of the beautiful and its relation to the ugly; we are interested in works that find new avenues of beauty in both traditional and new media; who question whether we really know what beauty is, what it depends on today, and how to create it; we are interested in the role of beauty in considering the relationship between capitalism, globalization and contemporary civilization after the pictorial turn.
