The third exhibition in Lauba’s cycle this year “Pass It On” – Karlo Fintić
The exhibition opens on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 19:00, and lasts until May 2.

“Pass It On” is Lauba’s project, which gives young artists, and students, the opportunity to exhibit their works in a gallery. It is a series of pop-up exhibitions that alternate, with the artists whose exhibition is set up choosing the next author themselves, and after five held exhibitions, one artist is chosen by Lauba, and so on in a circle. Unlike last year’s, this year’s “Pass It On” exhibitions are set up in the space in front of Lauba’s great hall. In this year’s cycle of the “Pass It On” platform, the first artist Marta Katavić nominated Marta Dijak, who nominated the next artist – Karlo Fintić. At the opening, find out who Karlo Fintić will nominate next.

In his works, Karlo Fintić deals with depictions of various historical conflicts, from the Middle Ages to modern wars. He uses these motifs as a basis for experimentation within the medium of painting. Furthermore, through motifs ubiquitous in today’s culture, he questions the limit of what can be considered “serious” art, that is, he deals with the concept of painting as such.

Karlo Fintić was born in 1997 in Zagreb. In 2019 he enrolled in the undergraduate study of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he is currently attending the first year of graduate studies. During his studies so far, he exhibited at various exhibitions within the Academy, as well as others in Zagreb, Zlatar, and Križevci. He opens his first solo exhibition, “Dark Age in Color”, in the Library of the City of Zagreb in Dubec in 2024.
