Đuro Seder was born on November 29, 1927 in Zagreb. He attended the First Classical High School in Zagreb and graduated from the Classical High School in Split in 1946. The same year he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he graduated in the class of Professor Antun Mejzdić in 1951. Specialization in painting he finished in class of prof. Marino Tartaglia in 1953. From 1981 to 1983 he worked as an assistant professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and from 1987 to 1998 he was a full professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. Since retyring in 1998 he has had a status of professor emeritus. He has been a full member of the HAZU Fine Arts Class since 2000, and since 2011 he has been the Head of the HAZU Gliptotheque. Also, he was a member of the Gorgon Art Group from 1959 to 1966. During the 1960s and 1970s, he published poetry in the journals Razlog, Kolo, Forum and Republika, and in 1978 he published a collection of poems, Father from a Pot, by the Zagreb Library. He has been exhibiting independently since 1958 and his works can be found in many national, city and international museums and galleries.
